About Me

Welcome!

My name is Wade Wyckoff, and this is my blog. I’m currently the Collection Services Librarian at McMaster University. I manage the University Library’s monograph acquisitions and cataloguing functions. I also do a weekly shift in our Division of Archives and Research Collections, and participate in a variety of committee work.

Previously, I was the Cataloguing Policy Librarian at Mac and you may already have run across my “alter ego,” the McMaster University Library Bibliographic Services blog. As the Cat Policy Librarian, I was primarily a resource person for our terrific group of cataloguers. I also planned and managed cataloguing projects and kept an eye on the evolving standards for cataloguing.

Before joining Mac, I spent five years working as an archivist for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Historical Center. My role was supposed to be primarily accessioning and processing of new materials, but quickly expanded to include managing our electronic records repository, cataloguing, web development, and all things technical services.

And before that (which seems like ages ago, now) I was a student at Indiana University in Bloomington, where I earned a B.A. and M.A. in History and a Master of Library Science degree.

I should also add the standard caveat: though I will no doubt comment on things happening at McMaster, any opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of McMaster University or the McMaster University Library.

So there you go. The 30-second introduction! If you’re on Facebook, drop by and say hello.

Hope you enjoy the blog.
